a very dry textbook,with brief basic definitions and examples, then pages of exercises per chapter .
Not for the casual physics refresher, years out of university.
This was an interesting science book. Teaches you physics and give insights into the subject by brief discussions of major events, discoveries, and concepts in physics. It shows how physics is a part of our everyday lives by relating it to such ordinary things. It is certainly is a book to get to start learning physics concepts.
No problem. Exactly what I needed, and delivered in an incredibly short time.
Otherwise really good for teaching yourself. Well thought out, laymen's terms, good organization. Only problem is when it refers to "figure 1.1" etc half the time they aren't there. I have a kindle keyboard though so I'm not sure if that's a factor
The writing is not catching, but the information is there.
I've just started reading this book and haven't gotten very far in yet, but I am finding it easy to understand versus other textbooks that are filled with stale and dry explanations too hard to interpret. I've never taken a Physics course and needed a book that talked on my "layman level" and this book does a good job of bringing Physics to my understanding. For someone who's new to Physics as I am, or someone who needs a quick basic review, this book is a gem. And, of course, you can't beat the price!
If you don't know Physics than it is a nice introduction to the subject. I have been self-studying this subject for years. My background is in pure mathematical theory
